Short Shoot Syndrome

The Short Shoot Syndrome observed in vineyards has become increasingly recognized as important in Oregon and Washington State wine grape areas. In a collaborative effort to describe symptoms and determine cause and effect of the Short Shoot Syndrome, grape growers and Oregon State University Faculty have created the following document. The intent of the document is to help grape growers identify the syndrome based on observed symptoms on various vine parts.

This document is a working document and may change as we learn more. Currently, survey work is being done to address certain aspects of this syndrome. There are several theories surrounding the observed symptoms described in this document that need to be addressed in the near future.
